Find a point estimate for the mean price of all textbooks.

Anwer (d)

QUESTION 2

  1. When estimating a population mean, are you more likely to be correct if you use a point estimate or an interval estimate?

A point estimate is able to give only a single plausible estimate for the parameter value within the question. Sampling variability makes it to be impossible to become sure of the closeness of a point estimate to the true population parameter. This reason makes an individual to be more likely to be correct if he or she can make an interval estimate that specifies a range of plausible values for the parameter instead of just reporting a point estimate.

QUESTION 3

  1. Which of the following statements is correct?
a. A confidence interval for the mean is an estimate of the sample mean.
b. A confidence interval for the mean is an estimate of the population mean.

QUESTION 4

  1. What effect will sample size have on your ability to infer your sample findings to a broader population?

The larger the sample size, the higher the degree of accuracy. However, this is limited by the availability of resources.

Introduction

I am a potential Computer technician, who can work in any company to execute technology tasks within the company. I anticipate working at Amazon.com, which is an online organization dealing with electronic commerce, and cloud computing.  As a product, I will offer services to the company and to its market to ensure that the company gains a good profit in the business and that its market becomes satisfied from the services that it receives. The services that I offer will serve as a benefit to the company because of its quality and ability to ensure the attainment of a good profit, the maintenance of the customers, and extension of the market size because of the satisfaction assured to the clients (Armstrong,  Kotler, Harker, & Brennan, 2015).

My major strength is that I have experience in working with any company’s culture and that I take minimum time to catch up with any ethical and cultural practices within any organization. I have proper communication skills, and I have attained professionalism in this field, which makes me offer good services to the company and the customers. I can work for a long time without wearing out. However, my significant weaknesses are that I cannot sustain stress at work, and I usually lose hope whenever I feel mistreated or not given attention at work. I am a poor time manager but learning to improve on the weakness, even though it is taking me a longer time than expected. The major opportunity in me is that I am so innovative and I have a great ability in creativity I am also a problem solver, which makes me come up with good and new plans for organizations that can make the organizations grow. I can come up with solutions to any challenges that a company may have, which gives it an opportunity to maintain a good working environment for other employees.

Distributed Systems

  1. Through the internet, users can run applications and access services. A heterogeneous group of computers and networks enables this (Lahby, 2017). Many sorts of networks, which differ from one another make up the internet. The difference comes in that all the computers attached to the networks use the internet protocols to communicate with each other. For example, when attached to an Ethernet, a computer has an execution of the internet protocols over the Ethernet. However, a computer attached to a different kind of network requires implementation of internet protocols for the particular network.

Lahby, M., & Sekkaki, A. (2017). Optimal vertical handover based on TOPSIS algorithm and utility function in heterogeneous wireless networks. 2017 International Symposium on Networks, Computers, and Communications (ISNCC).

  1. Extendibility and re-implementation of a system in various ways depends on the openness of computer system (Zhang, 2011). Adding and making available new resource sharing services to various client programs for use determines the openness of a distributed system. Publishing of well-stated interfaces for a system makes replacing sub-systems or adding new features easier for developers. For example, through an application-programming interface (API), developers develop their software in Facebook and Twitter interactively.

The Beautiful Things That Heaven Bears

The Beautiful Things That Heaven Bears 150 150 Affordable Capstone Projects Written from Scratch

From any of the short stories we’ve used in class or Dinaw Mengestu’s The Beautiful Things That Heaven
Bears, please choose a passage exceeding no more than two paragraphs that you find compelling and
which raises interesting questions for you.
Close Reading: As we’ve practiced in and outside of class, read the passage at least three times. As you
work through the passage, pay attention to how the author is using POV, content, language, and other
literary devices. Are they using repetition of a certain word or idea? Circle or highlight every moment of
textual evidence you can; make notes in the margins.
Since your goal is to develop meaning from a relatively small amount of text, you’ll need to approach
your chosen passage from many different angles; consider what is important about this passage? How
does this passage contribute to the rest of the narrative? What is ambiguous, confusing, or troublesome in
this passage? Consider the writer’s word choice, organization, themes, character development, dialogue,
setting, symbols, sentence structure, and the narrative information being conveyed.
Finally, in a 750 word essay please do a close reading of your chosen text, including multiple cited
examples of textual evidence, then present and argue your thesis about that text.
Your thesis should be contestable in its claim about the text and essentially summarize your argument
about your selected passage.
You may refer to an outside contextual resource or two, but it is not required (nor should it become the
focal point of your essay).
*Do not simply summarize your chosen passage or any outside sources. I am interested in your own
original interpretations, not what others have said before you.
Audience:
Your audience for this paper is this class – your classmates and myself. In other words, readers in an
academic setting whom already have knowledge about your chosen text.
An A-level paper:
• Includes an original title (puns and other witticisms are welcome)
• Has an original thesis that clearly makes a succinct, specific claim that can be argued and supported
• Thesis is supported by sound logic, claims, and textual evidence from the chosen passage

The beautiful things that heaven bears

I find the passage where Sepha Stephanos, Kenneth, and Joseph sit down together and share a scotch and Sepha call out “Bukassa” most compelling in this book. The text brings out various themes, stylistic devices, and precise setting. The passage begins when the three friends have met for drinks and are playing their games as usual. Joseph refers to the country of America as a little bastard child. He tells his friends that the same way you can’t be angry at a bastard child when he doesn’t give you want you need, you can’t be mad at America (Mengestu, 12). Regardless of the fact that the country cannot give them what they need, Joseph notes that they need to praise the Country deeds now and then to avoid trouble. The three friends are taking scotch and continuously refilling there glasses when Sepha mentions Bukassa. This name draws alarm to both Kenneth and Joseph, and they do not seem to figure out what the name implies. Kenneth walks to map next to the door and tries to figure out the name from the map. According to Sepha, the borders and names of places have changed, but Kenneth can still figure out from which country the name relates since the map is not entirely absolute. The passage ends with Kenneth rubbing his hands silently over Africa until he touches South Africa. Then he turns and points at Sepha, a clear indication that he has figured the answer.

Introduction

Reflective practices involve reflections or thinking about the activities one does or activities that happen and finding out better ways of doing them (Tunstall, 2013). On a personal level, it is the act of reviewing one’s perceptions towards the environment and the activities one engages. The difference between thinking and reflective practice is that thinking is casual whereas reflective practice requires more profound insights in a conscious manner. Reflective practice is thus in necessary in all aspects of life as it is the backbone of development through criticism and better ideas. The aim of this paper is critically analyzing the value of reflective practice in the society, education and my personal, professional practice. It will also be reflecting on my teaching philosophy.

Reflective practice is of much value to the society as it enhances social change. Social change refers to the adjustments in the way people behave, social institutions and relationships (Waiton, 2010). Reflecting on the way people behave and relate with one another can change the current state of things. There is a degree of evolution as the society adjusts the cultural ways of the people. There is the elimination of cultures that oppress a particular group of people creating a more friendly society. The drive of the changes is reflective practice as the first step is identifying the behavior. However, the adjustment of the formative brain science is significant in guaranteeing that the necessary change is fruitful. It comes about because of different elements, which boost the change making it inevitable. Social change prompts expanded mindfulness and even more understanding because of the nearness of more data in the group, which empowers individuals to settle on educated choices in light of the current situation

Earthquake Hazard Mitigation in Iraq

Earthquake Hazard Mitigation in Iraq 150 150 Affordable Capstone Projects Written from Scratch

Research paper (Doctorate Level):
Earthquake Hazard Mitigation in Iraq: Recommendations to decision makers

Abstract:
The people of Iraq have experienced economic loses and stagnation consequent of the human and natural induced hazards (Humayun & Al-Abyadh 6). The 7.3 magnitude earthquake that hit the Iran and Iraq border in November 2017 is one of the deadliest seismic activity that was witnessed by the two Asian countries based on the tremendous destruction of property and loss of lives that was brought by the earthquake.

The earthquake led to extensive damages on the Iraq side of the border especially in the town of Halabja where there was a high number of injuries as a result of the violent earthquake (Dehghan et al.). The earthquake brought about the disruption of normal operations in the towns close to the border where the earthquake occurred. There was a disruption of the power supply which left some of the emergency services helpless since nearby hospitals were unable to provide treatment of patients since there was a disruption of power to the facilities(Dehghan et al.). There was a level of confusion among specialists in the field of earth sciences since the quake did not adopt a typical, predictable characteristic since it did not occur along a known major fault as similar earthquakes of that magnitude

Disaster mitigation refers to a detailed guideline for all the actions taken before, during, and after the disaster to reduce its impact and intensify by facilitating recovery (Iwan 12). The first strategy of mitigation is the improvement of risk assessment. As such, the government should invest in scientific research, to identify the frequency, severity, and possibility of occurrence of an earthquake before it happens (Iwan 14). Technology should be mobilized to send forewarnings and mend the propagation and reaction to warnings (Aliev 2). Prior information prepares people for a prospective earthquake, thus reducing the impact of earthquakes (Iwan 15). For instance, if the people are informed beforehand, and they can vacate the threatened zone significantly reducing the mortality rate caused by the earthquake. The threatened area should be insured against catastrophic loss. This can be achieved through the formulation of a disaster policy that would reduce the risk arising from the disaster. Therefore, Iraq should invest in technology and scientific studies to identify and manage possible earthquake outbreaks in future (Aliev 12)

Earthquake mitigation

The occurrenceof the earthquake in Iran has been one of the most talked about events in the discourses in the country. It is important to establish the understanding of the impact of the earthquake in the country. Having experienced an earthquake of a magnitude of about 7.3, the impact of this earthquake was immediate and it affected the normal activities in most areas in the country. The daily lives of individuals were affected considering that there were deaths and damages that resulted from the earthquake. It is vital to consider the economic impact of such an occurrence in the country. The economic damages that were incurred affected the lives and the economic productivity of the people in the country as well. It is, therefore, necessary that proper strategies are put in place to mitigate the effects of the earthquakes. The idea is that preparedness is a key element in such cases where natural disasters are prone to occur.Documentation of such occurrences is also important in establishing the mitigation strategies that will promote recovery for all the affected sectors of the economy. It is important toidentify the differentstrategies that are relevant as mitigation efforts in the country. The Iranian earthquake presented a new dimension in the approaches to natural disasters such as this one. It was not the usual earthquake that was always experienced and as such, the specialists could not establish the best strategies to adopt in handling the earthquake and its documentation.

Terrorism

Terrorism has left many in wonder as they experience the outcomes as well as trying to figure out what motivates the acts of terror. What surprised all is the intensity of commitment the assailants have so much that they volunteer themselves to be experimental victims in such deadly activities that result in loss of both lives and properties. What motivate individuals, groups or nations to engage in terroristic acts such as suicide bombing? As we try to answer that inevitable question the extent and nature of terror in some countries outside America such as Libya, Somalia and Egypt in Africa as well as Iraq and Afghanistan among other states(“Security Sector Reform in Conflict-Affected Countries” 35). Many people have associated terrorism with Islamic region so much that Islamophobia has been experiencing all over the globe.
