MChoose a set of four sports teams to rank using the Massey method, the Colley method, and a “weighted” method. Select a season and a set of at least 5 games, where each of the four teams has played at least once. (If you use more than 5 games, do not stop at a complete round-robin, i.e. don’t have every team playing every other team exactly once.) The four teams do not have to form their own division, but they do have to play each other – the games included will be only games played among these four teams. Email me your ideas for the teams and the season. I will email you back with approval or alternative suggestion.
Students are allowed to help each other, but you should be doing your own work and turning in your own assignment. .
- Diagram the games played by the four teams.
- Determine the rankings based on the Massey method.
- Determine the rankings based on the Colley method.
- Decide on a way to weight the results of games played. Describe and support your weighting method, then determine the ranks using the weights and either the Massey or Colley method.
