Organizations that seek success in the social and economic environments, have to largely invest in their staff. According to Shin et al (2015), the organizational goals and objectives cannot be achieved if the workforce does not achieve the expected performance standards. The workforce which forms a vital part of the organization is essential in achieving these performance standards. Therefore, the employees need to be properly motivated for the organization to perform. The managers of the organization have an obligation to ensure that the employees get a maximum job satisfaction. The leadership has to have ethics that drive the whole organization and help strengthen trust in the team. One leader, Carlos Roberts, the manager Sundar company is an ethical leader from his good performance in the organization.
A leader is referred to as an ethical leader if they possess characteristics such as honesty, concern for others, respect, fairness, encouraging others, and if they are team oriented (Letwin et al, 2016). An individual can become a leader through their personal traits, through an event that brings out leadership qualities in an individual, or a person may learn leadership skills and become a leader. There exist two types of leadership, transformational and transactional leadership (Northouse & SAGE, 2016). Transformational is concerned with developing a vision that is aimed at achieving the policies and strategies of an organization through set procedures. Transactional leadership is performed by the leader offering rewards or positions to the followers. I went out to interview the manager of Sundar group of companies, Carlos Roberts. Roberts has been a good performer in the company for over eight years that he has managed the company.
