Individual Assignment on Risk Assessment (Total 20%)
For this assignment, you are required to select an occupation and conduct a risk assessment on a manual handling operation (refer to Cap 509A) for that occupation in order to ensure the safety and health of the worker and his/her colleagues.
Your report should include the following:
1. Abstract (<250 words)
2. Introduction
-Briefly describe the main tasks and responsibilities of the worker
3. Identification of the safety and health hazards of the job
-Using a table, classify and list potential occupational hazards (e.g. physical hazards,
biological hazards, chemical hazards, safety hazards, etc.)
4. Job hazard analysis (JHA)
-Select a manual handling operation and conduct a job hazard analysis. Present this
in a table
-Provide photos (with captions) highlighting the hazards for this particular operation
5. Analysis and evaluation of risks
-Provide a risk matrix and describe the likelihood, severity and risk of the possible
hazardous events
6. Checklist
-Provide a checklist(s) for identifying the hazards associated with manual handling
operations
7. Applicable occupational safety and health legal requirements
-Describe the applicable occupational safety and health legal requirements in Hong
Kong that relate to manual handling operation
8. Conclusions and recommendations
