For this writing assignment, compare the landforms and landscapes of the two images provided, the processes
that led to their development, and how these features are useful as proxy data when studying past climates.
Topics that should be included in the write-up:
The landforms present in each image, processes that led to their formation
Additional processes that may have shaped their surrounding landscapes; other features that may be
present in the area
How the soils in the two landscapes differ (think textural differences and climatic influences)
Weathering and mass movements affecting each landscape
Refer back to the Natural Climate Change lecture, and describe and compare how each landscape and
their associated landforms are useful for interpreting past climate regimes
Lectures and textbook units to review for the write-up:

Write-up format and grading:
1-2 pages of text, double-spaced, 12 pt font
Full sentences and proper paragraph format
Citation of any additional references or resources used
Grading – 50 points total
◦ 40 points – content and ability to display understanding of the topics and concepts
◦ 10 points – spelling, grammar, formatting, clarity, etc.
