Organize Part 1 of your term (type-written, double spaced between 5-7 pages) into the following sections:
- Define the Problem:
- State the research question
- Go over hypothesis/purpose
- State the purpose and rationale for pursuing the topic

- Sociological significance
- Generating Hypothesis
- Establish the relationship of problem defined in part 1 to an established theory (any theoretical perspective; example-conflict, social learning, labeling, etc…)
- Conduct Literature Review (3-4 pages)

- Go over method used, findings (results), Limitations of study (discussion)
- Your literature review is directly related to the topic or problem under study, followed by an explanation of how your research question grows out of that review.
- The purpose of the literature review is to know what others have discovered before you begin your investigation of your own, to ground your study in a particular context of what is known about a subject in order to establish a foundation for the topic (or question) being researched.
- Similarities and differences between the articles
- Generate two hypotheses from the literature review.
- State the null and the alternate hypotheses for the two hypotheses you have generated.
- Conceptualization and measurement:
- Identify independent and dependent variables for both hypotheses. Also mention control variables if applicable.
- Provide a nominal definition for each variable.
- Reference Page (At least 3 recent (2012 and higher, 5 years old) scholarly journals
- Look for articles with method sections.
