1. The owner of a fast food restaurant keeps records of the daily hamburger demand, which
is Normally Distributed with a mean of 260 pounds and a standard deviation of 20 pounds.
(a) What percent of days will the owner need more than 320 pounds of hamburger?
(b) The owner does not want to run out of meat more than 1% of days. How many pounds
should she order every day?
2. The mean weight of hens is 1230 grams. The distribution of hens’ weights is well-modeled by the Normal Distribution.
Determine the standard deviation of this distribution if 85% of all hens’ weights fall between 1107
grams and 1353 grams. Report your answer with four digits after the decimal point.
