Rules, people, technology, institutions, organizations, and legislation are constantly evolving to remain relevant in the present society. However, organizational change is facing challenges due to a diversity of theoretical frameworks. Organizations are forced to research to determine the best and appropriate change structure. Change takes place as a result of various drivers such as whenever a team undergoes growth, competition, or when it becomes stagnant in its operations. According to Cummings and Worley (2015), researchers are making efforts to modify and transform organizations to improve and maintain their effectiveness. Numerous advantages and disadvantages are associated with the different approaches that an organization adopt. To ensure organizational change, managers use two standard approaches to initiate change using the interpreter and coach image. These approaches are sense-making and organizational development. Bolman and Deal (2017) state that the two change approaches are essential for change managers as they ensure a productive and efficient change is achieved. The organizational development approach emphasizes on the human capital and the organization while sense-making approach focuses on creativity and time in an organization. This paper concentrates on these two change frameworks and how effective they are to achieve organizational change.

Organizational Development Approach As Associated With the Coach Image

According to Palmer, Dunford, and Buchanan (2017), organizational development (OD) is a strategic change practice in the culture of a group of people. Corporate development ensures knowledge is transferred throughout an organization to reinforce, improve, and develop the processes, structures, and strategies that ensure efficient operations in a department, individual role, or group. The changes may apply to the structure of an organizational task force to perform their duties, problem-solving process, or communication methods to support the changes in strategy. An OD approach is focused on helping the top management of an organization to become more efficient through improved ability to solve company problems in structure and strategy.
