The first individual assessment, in report format, is a 1,500 word equivalent critical evaluation of the strategic market environment of a company of your choice.
Students can choose any organisation – e.g. former and current place of work or from the literature – generally an organisation of their choice.
Students will be expected to research the company’s strategic environmental conditions and to apply appropriate theoretical concepts to this analysis, in order to obtain critical success factors and threats and opportunities.
Students will present their findings as a critical report, and are encouraged to use appendices to support their analysis.
Your report must include the following:
• Provide a brief overview introduction to your selected company, what market it operates in and any business challenges it is currently facing (maximum of ten marks, 200 words) (Learning Outcomes 1).
• Undertake an analysis of the market environment. This comprises a combination of:
o The wider macro environment in which your selected company operates (maximum of thirty five marks, 500 words – Learning Outcomes 1, 2, 6).
o And your own selected company’s industry/competitive environment (maximum of thirty five marks, 500 words – Learning Outcomes 1, 2, 6).
• You should highlight what you consider to be the market environment’s Critical Success Factors and emerging opportunities and threats (maximum of twenty marks, 300 words – Learning Outcomes 1, 2, 6).
The appropriate use of appendices will be required to support your analysis.
