For each of the four approaches/strategies you must:

  1. Briefly describe the approach/strategy and its underlying theoretical perspective as applicable. This description must include both what the approach/strategy itself is and how it is influenced by and / or reflects a particular theoretical model
  2. Consider and evaluate the approach/strategy in relation to

a).ease/complexity of implementation

b).level of skill or prior experience and practice required by the learner to benefit from the strategy selected

c).age appropriate of the activity or task in relation to what others at this stage are doing

d).cultural appropriateness

e). Use and relevance in other situations and at other times (generalisability).

  1. Next describe a scenario of a learners needs and learners context where you would choose to use the approach/strategy selected and give reasons for your choice for appropriate strategy.
  2. Finally write one paragraph which summarises the particular strengths and weaknesses of your chosen approach/strategy and give your overall conclusion about it.

For this assignment you are expected to have a good literature base (e.g. course material and other reading) to support your review of the four teaching approaches/strategies chosen. At the level 300 level, this assignment should demonstrate that you are fully conversant with the material in the relevant modules and that you have read widely beyond the course material for depth and breadth of understanding. As a guide each approach/strategy description should be approximately 600-650 words long excluding reference.
